Marlene is a disabled Latina, a proud mother to a rare child, and a relentless advocate in the rare disease and disability inclusion space. Her family’s rare disease journey spans over a decade, marked by a diagnostic odyssey and an ongoing search for answers. Certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and a Medical Interpreter and equipped with Rare Advocacy Learning and DEIA cohort, Marlene draws from professional and personal expertise to champion change.
She is the founder of Helping Swans Co., a nonprofit providing support to underserved communities, and CEO of MEDIA Marlene LLC, dedicated to educating and motivating disability inclusion and advocacy. As a published author of six books, an international speaker, an advocate on Capitol Hill, and a coordinator for local state Senate meetings, Marlene’s mission is to be a voice for the voiceless and a resource for those in need. For Marlene, advocacy is more than a calling, it is about shaping a future that leaves no one behind.
