The EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases proud to join with leading scientists and patient advocates in applauding the Biden Administration and Congress for establishing the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H.) EveryLife is one of 12 signatories on a statement issued today.
ARPA-H is designed specifically to empower high-risk, high reward strategies to accelerate research and development for effective treatments and cures. President Biden had called for the establishment of this agency to harness the power of the United States’ burgeoning biomedical enterprise. ARPA-H has been modeled after the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and its mission to make pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security.
“ARPA-H is a long-awaited platform for driving transformational change in the approach to drug development, especially for the 93-to-95 percent of rare diseases that have no FDA approved therapy,” said Annie Kennedy, Chief of Policy, Advocacy, and Patient Engagement at the EveryLife Foundation. “ARPA-H is disruption at its best. We are committed to working with the Administration and Congress to continue to advance policies that will benefit the more than 30 million Americans living with rare diseases and disorders.”
